NHS Sustainability Day March 23rd
March 23rd will see the sixth annual NHS Sustainability Day take place across England. The national day of action will see NHS Trusts and Healthcare Organisations across England act to promote environmental awareness and how it can improve public health.
Over 80% of NHS Trusts across England will take part, with Clinical Commissioning Groups, Charities and the Private Sector also expected to participate.
Initiatives such as tree planting, cycle to work days, food tasting, market places and staff engagement programmes are a few of the many activities planned on the day.
Speaking about the importance of NHS Sustainability Day, Campaign Organiser, Scott Buckler said: “NHS Sustainability Day provides an opportunity for health professionals across England to learn more about how the environment can help improve public health. The day is a celebration of the success currently in place within the NHS around sustainable development. It also provides an opportunity for patients, visitors and service users to understand how a better environment can improve their health.”
