Salix's Response to the City of London Transport Strategy

The City of London’s Transport Strategy was opened for public consultation in order for comments and feedback to inform the final version of the Transport Strategy, which is due to be published in Spring 2019. The strategy intends to set out how the City proposes to design and manage its streets to ensure the Square Mile remains a great place to live, work, study and visit. The Strategy is a major opportunity to enable the continued growth of the City  as a global financial centre and its development as a major cultural destination.

Kent County Council School Solar Project

Northfleet School for Girls has completed one of the largest Solar project of its kind for a school within the UK.

The foundation school within Kent County Council has installed 681 solar PV panels at 180kWp across the school’s roof, as part of the school’s ambitious plans to significantly reduce energy costs.

The solar project is projected to save the school £17,000 as well reduce carbon emissions by 100 tonnes annually, which builds on the school’s previous project, which saw all lighting converted to LED.

Salix joins the Scottish Environment Protection Agency’s Low Carbon Energy Investment round table

Scotland is one of the world leaders when it comes to facing the challenge of climate change and actioning low carbon and renewable energy initiatives. In 2017 over two thirds of Scotland’s electricity was generated by renewables. The country has ambitious plans to create a 100% renewable grid and generate 50% of their heat, transport and electricity from renewables by 2030*. The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) recognise the scale of the environmental challenges surrounding sustainability ahead and the need for action.

Green Gown 2018 Winners Announced

Last week, Salix was proud to support the Green Gown awards 2018 hosted by the EAUC at the York Railway Museum. The event celebrated the incredible sustainability initiatives of 87 finalist institutions in 12 different categories, representing over 1 million students and 172,000 staff. Iain Patton, CEO of the EAUC, co-presented the ceremony alongside Helen Browning OBE, CEO of the Soil Association.

Salix is proud to be supporting Sustainability Day for Action on 25th October 2018. On the day the campaign will be sharing good practice across the health sector by hosting a range of talks covering sustainable solutions, waste management, carbon management, sustainability on the ward and how to secure finance.

NHS Improvement £46 Million Sustainability Initiative Announced

NHS Improvement has announced the release of £46 million for NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts in England. This exciting opportunity will focus on the utilisation of Public Dividend Capital (PDC) towards the installation of new LED lighting across estates to drive direct energy efficiency in the NHS.
