Salix exhibiting at IHEEM’s President’s Address and Awards Ceremony 2017: Heritage, Innovation and The Membership Balance

The event will be taking place on November 30th at Central Hall Westminster, London.

The event will provide attendees with the opportunity to discover more about the work being undertaken by IHEEM and is an opportunity for attendees to network, share knowledge and build connections.

The event comprises of a free to attend Seminar in the afternoon followed by an invitation-only evening reception. The afternoon seminar will focus on the recently published Royal Academy of Engineering report which IHEEM was involved in producing.

This year’s annual conference will be taking place on the 6th – 8th December 2017 at the Hilton Metropole, London.

The conference takes its title from the president’s theme, ‘Everyone Counts.’ During the three day conference, delegates will have the opportunity to hear from prominent figures across the NHS along with key policy makers, politicians, clinician’s and technical experts.

University of Reading fume cupboard ventilation improvements result in impressive carbon and financial savings

The University of Reading identified fume cupboards that had been running 24/7 since they were installed, and by investing a total of £1,010,000, they undertook a programme of works to improve the efficiency of these fume cupboards.  Funding for the project included £187,000 of interest-free Salix funding, £418,000 from the Salix/HEFCE joint funded Revolving Green Fund (RGF4) and £405,000 of their own internal funding,

Lincoln College Group making substantial saving through LED lighting upgrade

The college group used £704,849 of Salix interest free funding to replace 7,000 inefficient light fittings throughout their estate, resulting in significant carbon and financial savings.

Green Gown 2017 Winners Announced

Last week Salix were fortunate to attend the Green Gown awards 2017 hosted by the EAUC in Manchester. The event celebrated the incredible sustainability initiatives of 113 finalists, representing over 1.5 million students and 244 thousand staff. EAUC CEO Iain Patton co-hosted the ceremony alongside poet and Chancellor of the University of Manchester, Lemn Sissay, MBE. 

This year’s UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards’ winners and finalists are proving post-16 education is at the forefront of the effort to deliver solutions to the most pressing global challenges of our time.

Funding Available to the Scottish Public Sector to Reduce Carbon Emissions

In May 2017, the Scottish Government released a further £4.7 million of interest-free funding to support energy efficiency projects across the Scottish public sector, as part of Scotland’s plan to deliver their national carbon reduction target.

The funding enables the public sector to scale up and widen their project scope by matching public sector capital with an interest- free loan, with the option to create a ring-fenced invest to save fund.

Salix Exhibiting at NHS Property Conference - Building Blocks of the Five Year Forward View

The conference will take place on November 22nd at One Great George Street, London.

NHS Property 2017 is in its sixth year of the annual event and will provide the perfect opportunity for around 250 senior NHS personnel who have an interest in and responsibility for property and land, to come together with their peers to hear from senior level policy makers, strategists and solution providers. The Conference is also an opportunity for NHS staff members to be part of a knowledge sharing platform.

The conference will be taking place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Saturday 18th November 2017.

The NGA conferences allow members to hear the latest news on a range of issues, providing opportunities to network and share best practice. Delegates will be able to discuss current issues affecting school governance at local and national levels, as well as visiting a wide range of exhibitors.
