Salix attending SMART Cities Cardiff on 2nd February 2017

Salix will be attending the SMART Cities Cardiff event, 10am – 4pm on Thursday 2nd February 2017, held by UK Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD).

The event will explore the potential impact of Smart technology for the development of a low carbon Cardiff and the city region. Key discussion points during the day will include driving resource efficiency, delivering key quality services and creating efficient solutions that enhance public well-being.

Together with Salix, Alexandra Hammond, Associate Director of Sustainability for Essentia and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Scott Buckler from Sustainability Day (4 all of us) hosted a webinar on Wednesday 18th January about funding sustainable success within the NHS.

Application deadline approaching for the Wales Funding Programme

In 2016 Salix announced the Wales Funding Programme, which combines both the Salix Energy Efficiency Loans Scheme (SEELS) and the Invest to Save – Green Growth Finance Schemes into one application process.

Public sector organisations are invited to apply for Green Growth Wales interest-free repayable funding for projects delivering energy efficiency, renewable energy and resource efficiency in the 2016-17 financial year.

The closing date for the last round of applications is 1st March 2017.

Salix attending the Healthcare Estates Management Conference – 19th January

Salix are looking forward to attending the Healthcare Estates Management Conference; Building and Maintaining the Future of Our Health at Stamford Bridge in London on Thursday 19th January.

The event will hold a number of seminars throughout the day, whilst speakers will discuss the challenges around achieving savings, efficiencies and modernisation through better management of the NHS estate.

The University of St Andrews saves 5,300 tonnes of carbon with a Salix Recycling Fund

Since 2007, The University of St Andrews has been reducing carbon emissions and saving energy across its estates, with the support of a Salix ring-fenced recycling fund.

This is a reminder that applications for the 2016/17 round of funding will close on 10th February 2017.

Salix will assess applications as they are received, so early submissions are encouraged to allow the maximum possible time for any follow up discussions on your projects.

Updating to more energy efficient technologies in museums using Salix Funding

One of the areas Salix can provide funding for is museums in the public sector. In this sector, as well as the carbon and financial benefits of undertaking energy efficiency projects, key benefits are maintaining the internal environments and reducing the maintenance of the building.

OBE awarded to Salix Chief Executive in the Queen's New Year’s Honours List

It is confirmed that Annie Shepperd will receive an OBE for her significant contribution to energy efficiency and child protection over her career. The Queen's New Year Honours Lists 2017 recognises the contribution of a wide range of people across the UK and was announced on the 30th December. Annie is the Chief Executive of Salix Finance and also sits on the board of the Lucy Faithful Foundation, dedicated to the eradication of child sexual abuse.
