Hard-to-treat homes

Sharing solutions

Your feedback and experiences are essential for the success and improvement of our initiatives. We recognise that retrofitting or enhancing energy efficiency in hard-to-treat homes presents significant challenges, particularly for grant recipients currently managing their projects. We are eager to learn about the strategies you have used to overcome these difficulties.

To address these issues effectively, we are creating learning resources and activities directed by the grant recipient community. Your insights will play a crucial role in shaping these resources and refining our overall approach.

Please provide detailed information about the solutions and strategies you have implemented. Your responses will help us identify best practices and develop targeted support that meets the needs of our community.

Background

Hard-to-treat homes often present unique challenges that make energy efficiency improvements more difficult. These challenges can include but are not limited to:

  • Structural issues (e.g., solid walls, non-standard construction)
  • Heritage or listed building status
  • Limited access for renovation works
  • Lack of suitable heating systems
  • Complexities in installing insulation

Grant recipients have developed and implemented various innovative approaches and solutions to address these challenges. Sharing these experiences can provide practical guidance and inspiration for others facing similar challenges.
