Salix Celebrate Best Companies Day 2020!
Salix is celebrating Best Companies Day 2020 by reflecting on the past year and all of the activities that staff have been involved in, showcasing our great team and providing a true measure of workplace engagement.
Today’s celebration comes after Salix was named as number 2 on the Sunday Times Best 100 not-for-profit organisations to work for list 2020, at the London awards ceremony on the 19th February.
As an organisation which prides itself on equal and fair support for all staff, Salix has focused on employee wellbeing this year, creating a safe space for everyone to open up and start conversations around mental health.
Salix supported Movember for the second year running, looking at how prevention, early intervention and communication can support our staff both at work and in their personal lives. Although the charity focuses primarily on men’s health, everybody at Salix got involved, identifying the mental challenges that could affect us all.
Alongside our Movember activities, Salix arranged a programme of eight mental health and wellbeing workshops that were focused on building resilience, eradicating self-limiting beliefs and developing emotional intelligence. All employees were given the opportunity to attend several sessions.
On world mental health day 2019, Salix organised several activities to give everyone the opportunity to take an hour or two out of their day and reflect on work-life balance, investing a little time into the actions we can all take to build personal resilience. Activities included a morning yoga session, a vegetarian shared lunch, a visit to the top of The Monument and a visit to the Museum of London.
Joan Dayap, Client Support Officer at Salix, said: “It’s great to work at an organisation where you feel truly valued – the mental health workshops were something I never thought I would get the opportunity to be involved in at work and they were really inspiring.”
Salix activities stretch beyond mental health in the workplace, with staff taking part in monthly team baking days to raise money for the company's four charities and inclusion in City Giving Day.
Edward Clark, Programme Coordinator at Salix, said: “Every year Salix goes above and beyond to involve everyone in new, creative activities that benefit the wellbeing of all employees and raise money for charities which are a brilliant way to have some fun!”
