Building vision for the future

Ambitious net zero targets and challenges were top of the agenda at Tomorrow’s Healthcare Property conference.
Hundreds of professionals from across the healthcare sector joined the event including Salix’s director of programmes Ian Rodger who was there to talk about the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
The scheme which is run by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and delivered by Salix, has provided millions of pounds worth of funding for decarbonisation projects across the NHS.
Ian said: “It was a privilege to speak at the conference and to be part of the debate on how healthcare property can take a greater lead in the race to net zero.
“It was fascinating to be able to hear how the £930m of funding for energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects Salix Finance has supported across the NHS in England fits into to the wider debate about healthcare sustainability and net zero strategies.”
Salix works with NHS trusts across the country on its decarbonisation projects. Once an organisation is successfully awarded grant funding, a Salix relationship manager guides the grant recipient through their decarbonisation journey.
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is just one organisation that recently received Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme funding under Phase 3a. It received £4.3m of grant funding which means it can install air source heat pumps among other measures.
For other successful health authorities to be granted funding please see our latest cases studies.
Tomorrow’s Healthcare Property conference was held in Birmingham and attendees could share news about upcoming hospital projects, capital development schemes and learn about opportunities resulting from net zero targets.
