Salix puts spotlight on decarbonisation of campuses

It will be about solutions and vision when the Salix team addresses the audience at the EAUC Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education event next week.
The event, Conversations on Climate Solutions, will see some of the UK’s top university and college academics, leaders and professionals address the climate and ecological emergency. It’s also an opportunity to hear about practical solutions.
The Salix team will hold its own session called ‘decarbonising campuses’.
Speaker Salix’s Evelyn West, who works as a client support officer: “It is exciting to be working with so many universities and colleges that are already leading the way with ambitious decarbonisation plans.
“Indeed, as the institutions that are uncovering the issues around the climate crisis, developing solutions, and educating those who will tackle it, this sector should be at the forefront of the UK’s net zero efforts.”
The Salix session will be held on the second day of the event. The day is hosted by Laurence Frewin, Principal and CEO of South Devon College and Member of the EAUC Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education Board.
Salix team members will cover the aspirations and challenges of reaching net zero as well as focusing on how to access funding schemes.
The Salix team will highlight real-life examples and practical tips for delivering decarbonisation projects on campuses.
Salix client support officer Kate Bowden added: “All institutions have a serious responsibility to tackle the climate and environmental emergency.
“Colleges and universities have all the more reason to act because they serve young people who will bear the brunt of these issues. At Salix we want to help by successfully funding as many decarbonisation projects as possible.”
The EAUC Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education held a similar event in November called Climate Actions. This time, the main areas of focus will include:
- Sector Equity
- Costing Net-Zero Plans
- Green Skills
- Biodiversity
- Holistic thinking
- The power of partnerships
The event will be held at the University of Bath on June 27 and 28 and the Salix session will run on June 28 from 1.30pm to 3pm.
