Low Carbon Skills Fund

There will be no funding for the Low Carbon Skills Fund in financial year 2025/26.

The Low Carbon Skills Fund is run by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Please refer to the gov.uk website here for information.

Delivered by Salix, it has provided grants for public sector organisations to engage specialist and expert advice, and skills needed to create robust heat decarbonisation plans. These have helped prepare for heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency works.

We would like to encourage organisations to contact their Local Net Zero Hubs. Each hub has a dedicated team in place to support public sector organisations throughout the heat decarbonisation development and delivery lifecycle. This includes supporting the development of strategy stage heat decarbonisation plans and providing strategic and technical advice on next steps.

The Local Net Zero Hubs offer this support free of charge. For more information and contact details regarding the local hubs see our story here

Organisations can also refer to the Public Sector Decarbonisation Guidance, produced by Energy Systems Catapult (the Catapult) and is available on their website. This offers guides, insights, tools, templates and case studies to support public sector organisations to plan, design and deliver heat decarbonisation across their estates.

This guidance has been produced by the Catapult in collaboration with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Salix. A set of templates have been made available to support public sector organisations to develop strategy stage heat decarbonisation plans themselves with support from the hubs. These include:

We would also like to refer organisations to our own Phase 5 Low Carbon Skills Fund area of our website where you can find guidance and further advice on how to produce a heat decarbonisation plan.
