Scotland’s Public Sector Heat Decarbonisation Fund returns for Phase 3
Scheme to support Scotland’s drive to net zero is launched with grants available to aid the public sector
A major funding scheme that has helped public sector organisations cut carbon emissions has launched for a third phase, offering new grants to the Scottish public sector.
Phase 3 of Scotland’s Public Sector Heat Decarbonisation Fund builds on the success of the first and second rounds which has supported organisations to transform how they heat their buildings.
The scheme, delivered once again by our teams at Salix on behalf of the Scottish Government, forms part of wider national efforts to decarbonise Scotland’s building stock and progress towards the 2045 net zero target.
Salix chief executive Kevin Holland said: “We feel privileged to deliver the third round of this high impact scheme.
“Through phases one and two, we saw the positive difference this investment has made for the people using these buildings every day, creating warmer, better adapted spaces that are cheaper to run.
“From improved energy efficiency to low-carbon heating systems, these upgrades improve how people experience their buildings across Scotland.
“Phase 3 marks another important step forward. As climate change accelerates, this programme continues reducing carbon and bills, while also delivering real, tangible benefits for communities.”
Under Phase 1 and 2 of the fund, the Scottish Government has awarded more than £20 million to decarbonise heating in public sector buildings. Successful recipients have included Edinburgh Napier University, South Lanarkshire Council, South Ayrshire Council and Glasgow Life.
Applications for Phase 3 will be invited from 24 March to 29 April 2026, with applicants having six weeks to submit applications.
