Salix in Glasgow in support of COP26
This year’s COP26 summit* in Glasgow will be the 26th annual conference bringing together governments and other parties together to accelerate climate action towards carbon reduction goals outlined in the Paris Agreement.
Salix will be in Glasgow 1st – 12th November championing the successes of decarbonisation in the UK public sector, raising awareness of the opportunities to invest in innovative technologies in the low carbon sector to decarbonise heat, deliver clean energy and improve energy efficiency.
Salix in Scotland 1 - 12th November 2021
With Scotland’s world-leading emissions-reduction and air quality targets and pioneering plans to deliver net-zero through a 'Just Transition', Scotland can claim to be a global exemplar in net-zero solutions and climate adaptation.
However, if we are to meet the urgency of the moment, if Scotland is to truly mount a response worthy of the emergency we were one of the first governments in the world to declare, then the time for deliberation is over. To meet its statutory interim target of reducing emissions by 75% by 2030 (the equivalent for the UK is 78% reduction by 2035), Scotland must spend the next decade focused on practical solutions and delivery.

Finance mobilisation for climate resilient & carbon neutral communities
We invite you on 12th November at 10.00 am to this panel discussion in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde on how public sector bodies such as Universities can take the lead in pioneering energy efficiency projects. We will be discussing how by working in collaboratively with universities our energy efficiency loans scheme has enabled successful university, college and other public sector low carbon projects.
With examples from the University of Strathclyde and more, we will be highlighting how we provide support on fund management and project delivery, creating the foundation and guidance for the long-term investment in energy efficient technologies, delivering carbon reduction as well cost savings which in turn can be reinvested back into communities.
This event has been organised by The Innovation Showcase Subgroup of the COP26 UK Universities Network along with a number of other activities to showcase the ways in which innovations developed in UK universities can be applied to reduce carbon emissions, adapt to the changing climate or inform climate action.
