About the Low Carbon Skills Fund

The Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund launched in 2020, and provided grants to boost decarbonisation skills and unlock heat decarbonisation on public sector estates. There is currently no funding for the Low Carbon Skills Fund.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero ran the scheme with Salix as the delivery partner. Public sector organisations used the grants to access specialist advice and skills needed to develop robust heat decarbonisation plans and prepare for heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency works.

This funding supported early-stage work before organisations applied for larger programmes like the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS). Organisations searching for energy efficiency funding in the UK should also explore our guidance on additional funding options.

Alternative funding

We have created an alternative funding resource to help organisations find information on funding available for housing retrofit and decarbonisation projects from public sector, local authority and charitable funding sources.

We would like to encourage organisations to contact their Local Net Zero Hubs. Each hub has a dedicated team in place to support public sector organisations throughout the heat decarbonisation development and delivery lifecycle. This includes supporting the development of heat decarbonisation plans and providing strategic and technical advice on next steps.
