Powering Scotland’s public sector to net zero

We’re working with the Scottish Government to unlock millions in funding for heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency - helping more public bodies cut emissions, lower energy bills and fast-track the journey to net zero by 2045

At Salix, we’re proud to be working alongside the Scottish Government to turn net zero ambition into real, on-the-ground action. Together, we’re delivering funding programmes that help public sector organisations across Scotland cut carbon, upgrade buildings and move to cleaner heat - all on the road to net zero by 2045.

We deliver Scotland’s Public Sector Heat Decarbonisation Fund, the Scottish Public Sector Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme and the Scotland Recycling Fund on behalf of the Scottish Government. These funds are designed to remove barriers and accelerate progress, supporting public bodies to take practical, funded steps towards decarbonisation.

The Scottish Budget for 2026-27 provides more than £335 million funding for heat in buildings programmes, supporting households and businesses to transition to low carbon heating systems. While scheme budget allocations are yet to be agreed by ministers, the Budget committed to continue capital programmes for retrofitting the public sector estate, to reduce emissions while addressing the challenge of rising energy costs.

We understand that Scottish Government is committed to broadening the reach of funding delivered by our team and expanding the number of organisations and people it supports, ensuring more projects, more communities and more public sector bodies can benefit from accessible net zero funding.
