Meet the speakers shaping the conversation on Scotland’s energy future
Andrew Souter and Cullen Warnock will share practical experience, lessons and ideas on delivering decarbonisation projects at Salix’s Edinburgh event
Public sector leaders from across Scotland will come together in Edinburgh this October to share experience, ideas and practical lessons on delivering the projects needed to support the country’s net zero ambitions.
Delivering Scotland’s Energy Future with Salix event will take place at South Hall, University of Edinburgh, on Tuesday 27 October, bringing together organisations at different stages of their decarbonisation journeys.
The event will put shared learning and collaboration at the centre of the conversation, with speakers drawing on their own experience of delivering projects and tackling the challenges that can stand in the way of progress.
We’re delighted to announce that Andrew Souter, programme manager at Midlothian Council, has joined the speaker line-up for Delivering Scotland’s Energy Future.

Among the speakers will be Andrew Souter, programme manager at Midlothian Council, who leads the delivery of the council’s transport, energy and infrastructure, regeneration and development capital investment programmes
Andrew has played a key role in delivering Midlothian Council’s Energy Efficiency Standard for Social Housing (EESSH2) programme and supporting its wider net zero ambitions.
He will share insight into the practicalities of turning ambitious plans into successful projects, drawing on his experience of working with senior leadership teams, elected members, government agencies and external partners.
We’re delighted to announce that Cullen Warnock, chief estates officer at Abertay University, has joined the speaker line-up for Delivering Scotland’s Energy Future.

Cullen Warnock, chief estates officer at Abertay University, will also join the event as a guest speaker.
With more than 40 years’ experience leading estates, infrastructure and engineering programmes, Cullen has delivered major transformation projects across higher education and the built environment.
His experience will bring another perspective to the discussion, helping delegates explore the opportunities and challenges facing organisations as they work to decarbonise their buildings and operations.
Together, the speakers will share real-world experience of what has worked, the obstacles encountered along the way and the lessons that could help others move their own projects forward.
The programme will also look at the future of decarbonisation across Scotland, common barriers to delivering net zero projects and how organisations can overcome them.
Our very own experts will be available throughout the day to provide practical advice on funding opportunities, project delivery and making the most of the support available.
Scotland programme manager at Salix, Daniel Lenton, said the event would provide an opportunity to build on the progress already being made across the public sector.
He added: “Delivering Scotland’s Energy Future is about bringing people together to share ideas, learn from one another and build on the great work already happening across Scotland.”

The formal programme will run from 10am to 4pm, followed by an informal networking session until 5pm, giving delegates further opportunity to exchange ideas and make connections.
The event is free and exclusively for public sector organisations, with places limited. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.
