The information below outlines the actions that you need to take to apply to Digarbon round 3. Links to documents, as well as key dates, have been included throughout this webpage to ensure you can easily access all the information you need to prepare your application.
As an introduction, the video below provides an overview of the key features of the scheme. Please read Digarbon Guidance Notes for more detail.
Step 1
Attend one of our introductory webinars
Our webinars will provide you with
- A comprehensive overview of Digarbon round 3

Step 2
Read the guidance notes
If you haven’t already, we recommend reading the Digarbon round 3 Guidance Notes to ensure that you have a detailed understanding of the scheme’s purpose and eligibility criteria.
Step 3
Familiarise yourself with the required submissions
It is important that you have a good understanding of the mandatory application documents to ensure that a complete application is submitted. Section 7.2.1 of the Guidance Notes provides a breakdown of the required documents, with appendix 2 outlining requirements according to the project type.
Please note that organisations are limited to one application.
Step 4
Read the Digarbon Terms and Conditions
The Terms and Conditions for Digarbon have been published on the scheme’s webpage and can be found using this link. Please also review the Privacy Notice to ensure you and your organisation are happy the data collection and processing associated with applying to Digarbon.
Step 5
Submit the application
The scheme will be open for applications from 2 April 2026. You must ensure that you fill in all the mandatory fields and upload all the required supporting documents, as referenced in step 3. The application window closes on 25 June 2026.
The application process must be completed by the public sector organisation, not any consultants involved with the project.
Step 6
Quality checks
To ensure that your application meets the scheme criteria, and all mandatory supporting documents are attached, we will conduct a quality check of your application.
Step 7
Technical assessment
If you pass the quality check in step 7, your application will proceed to a full technical assessment. Your application will be assessed as it was submitted, highlighting the necessity in submitting a robust and fully evidenced application. As previously mentioned, please refer to the guidance notes for the list of required documents.
During the technical assessment, the assessor may reach out with clarification queries. Any queries will include a response deadline that needs to be met. Consequently, applicants need to closely monitor any communications linked to the application.
Step 8
Delivery call
Once applicants have passed the technical assessment, they will be contacted by a member of our Wales team to arrange a delivery call. The call will discuss project delivery, risks, issues and the loan amortisation schedule. This call is not assessed but used as an opportunity to discuss the project in more detail ahead of the allocation of funding.
Step 9
Applicants notified of assessment outcome
Once all applications have been fully assessed and funding allocation has been finalised, applicants will be notified of the outcome. Unsuccessful applicants will be given feedback on their application to assist with potential future applications.
Successful applicants will be issued a loan agreement in autumn 2026 to formally confirm the funding the organisation has been awarded. The loan agreement will include any project specific conditions that need to be resolved during the delivery of the project.
