Publication of Warm Homes Plan is welcomed

The government has today published its Warm Homes Plan

The Plan highlights the intent to establish a Warm Homes Agency which will be a new and dedicated public body to support delivery of the plan.

The aim of the new agency is to simplify consumer experience whilst providing a trusted source of advice and support.

It will play a vital role in improving awareness and engagement, supporting consumers on the journey to make their homes more energy efficient and cheaper to run.

They will have access to an enhanced advice and support service, providing impartial, high-quality information about clean heating measures, funding eligibility, trusted installers, and options available to support household retrofit changes.

The Warm Homes Agency will also play a pivotal role in supporting place-based decarbonisation efforts, working with local authorities to convene, facilitate and support successful planning and delivery at a local level.

It will be formed by bringing together the knowledge, skills and expertise we have at Salix with Ofgem’s delivery and schemes arm and some of the Net Zero Buildings and Industry team within the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

The government hopes the Warm Homes Agency will deliver better value for money for the taxpayer by consolidating scheme delivery and ensuring clearer accountability across the retrofit system.

At Salix, we are excited by the potential of the new Warm Homes Agency. We look forward to helping ministers realise their ambitions for the Warm Homes Plan.

We have over two decades of experience delivering programmes to decarbonise public buildings and to improve homes across the whole of the UK.

We are well placed to bring our skills and expertise into the new agency to make a real impact to lowering families’ energy bills and improving quality of life.
