A local authority in North East London is on track to significantly reduce its carbon emissions after investing in a range of energy efficiency measures across the borough.
This year Salix are hosting a series of free workshops aimed at the private sector to help organisations better understand how Salix funding works, and how private sector organisations can better support their public sector clients throughout the Salix process.
The London private sector workshop will be held at Nova North on the 5th November 2019.
In 2018, Salix and the Department for Education launched a new £25m fund for maintained schools looking to install energy efficiency measures.
The aim of the fund is to support schools who are looking to lower their energy bills, reduce emissions and create a more comfortable learning and working environment for both pupils and staff.
Since the launch of the fund, £10m has been allocated to over 200* maintained schools across England.
Eleven Scottish Universities are delivering carbon reduction projects through the Scottish Funding Council’s University Carbon Reduction Fund
The University Carbon Reduction Fund (UCRF) was launched by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) in August 2017. Managed by Salix Finance, the programme aims to boost investment in energy efficiency across Scotland’s higher education institutions in order to generate a significant reduction in carbon emissions across the sector. Salix Finance provides interest-free funding to the public sector in England, Scotland and Wales, to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower energy bills.
Following the success of the 2017 Private Sector Workshops, Salix are excited to announce that three workshops will be hosted throughout November 2019.
The free workshops will help the private sector better understand how Salix funding works and how they can support their public sector clients' applications to the Salix loan schemes.

The SLCC (Society of Local Council Clerks) national conference is taking place on the 2nd and 3rd October 2019 at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire.
Attendees will return to their council’s with an improvement plan to help make a difference and apply practical steps to combat climate change. Public speaking expert Becky Walsh will be attending the conference and a leading political commentator will be uncovering some constitutional and structural changes.

Flintshire County Council has significantly reduced its carbon footprint after investing in a £4.6 million street lighting replacement project, saving approximately £575,000 a year in energy bills1.
The Council recognises the importance of climate change, reducing the effects it is having, and their role in protecting the environment.
Every year, Salix host several regional meetings as an opportunity for public sector organisations across England to share knowledge and expertise, network with peers on energy efficiency projects, share best practice and receive updates from Salix Finance.
This year, the first regional meeting is being held at Gloucestershire County Council on the 2nd October 2019.
